Musikalisch streifen die Wait Watchers eigentlich so ziemlich alles zwischen New Wave und Muzak, um diese eklektische Ganze mit einem recht eigenen Zuckerguß zu überziehen, der einerseits für den entsprechenden Spaß an der Freud’ sorgt, aber andererseits diesem latent präsenten, unbehaglichen Gefühl seinen Raum lässt. Eskapismus hört sich anders an. Insofern ist es dann auch keine allzu große Überraschung mehr, wenn auf der LP We Are Smoking Caramellow, die 2014 zu Tim Berresheims Ausstellung „Auge und Welt“ im Düsseldorfer Kunstverein, mit Karsten Scholl (Teenage Panzerkorps, The Nazi Dogs et al) an den Vocals, eingespielt wurde, skeletöse Marschmusik mit deepem Dub kombiniert wird – fast schon repräsentativ für das konsequente Miteinander von Avantgarde und Hippietum, Futurismus und Kybernetik, Präzision und Rausch, Konzept und Exzess oder, um auf die Ausstellung zurückzukommen, Computerkunst und Mimeographie.
